Sara Truman is a ceramic artist and educator living in Gainesville, FL. She received her BFA from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY in 2007, and her MFA from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS in 2012. She has been a resident artist at Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts in Asheville, NC and The LUX Center for the Arts in Lincoln, NE. After teaching at Doane College in Lincoln, NE and a one-year sabbatical replacement at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL, she returned to Gainesville, FL where she spent 7 years as the Department Chair of Visual and Performing Arts and Ceramics Instructor at Gainesville High School. In the summer of 2020, Sara left her full-time teaching position at Gainesville High School to run her business, Studio T/M Pottery & Clay. In addition to serving as her personal studio space, Studio T/M offers community classes, memberships, workshops, as well as an apprenticeship program. Sara lives in Gainesville with her wife and their two children (+ a dog, 2 kittens, and 10 awesome chickens).
